Measurements and Corrections

The OMC team is responsible for the measurement and correction of the linear and non-linear optics in the LHC and other machines in the CERN accelerators. This website section documents measurement methods as well as the physics behind them, and provide step-by-step procedures to follow during shifts.

As can be found in dedicated tabs in the navbar:

  • Physics and Methods covers the theoretical and algorithmic foundations: pre-processing of measurement data, reconstruction of optics quantities of interest from BPM data, specific measurement techniques such as K-Modulation, and more.
  • Procedures contains practical, checklist-style guides to follow during measurement shifts, from general pre-measurement checks to step-by-step workflows.
